Michelle Jones (PhD) is a Professor and DC Kiplinger Floriculture Chair in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science at The Ohio State University. She is located at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center in Wooster, Ohio. Dr. Jones received her B.S. in Agricultural Biochemistry from Iowa State University and her PhD in Horticulture from Purdue University. She is nationally and internationally known for her research in plant physiology and postharvest biology. Dr. Jones’s research program focuses on identifying gene networks that control the postharvest or postproduction quality of flowering ornamentals, with a focus on flower senescence and ethylene. Applied research projects focus on the use of plant growth regulators and beneficial microbes to enhance ornamental crop quality and shelf life. As a Floriculture Extension Specialist her outreach programs focus on postharvest shipping and handling disorders, maintaining crop quality during retailing, and preventing ethylene damage to floriculture crops throughout the production and marketing chain.
